We have spent some time writing descriptions of heroes and monsters from Greek style myths.
We focused on using powerful vocabulary and a range of sentence types to create engaging paragraphs.
Here are some examples:
Lora, the only girl in her family has seven brothers and a dad. She is good with animals and the bow and arrow. She got shot by lightning but now has fabulous powers and a magic backpack that has everything she will ever need which helps her a lot when defeating beasts. After her refreshing shower, Lora would get dressed and go feed her very hungry golden eagle so they could set off in the mighty forest. They could see cute horses, fluffy squirrels, scared foxes, slow tortoises and very friendly worms all coming to tell her their horrible problems for her to solve. Using her lightning powers, Lora shot down a colossal tree so the friendly worm could go back to its home. Determined, resilient, loved, that was the famous and loveable Lora!
Bobillius, the most courageous and intelligent of his family (a mum, a dad and a big brother he stands up to) was famous for his skills of clashing his diamond dagger into villains’ hearts. After a long session of training, Bobillius would get his emerald helmet and set off to fight in the towering gladiator dome. The viewers, townspeople and judges would watch Bobillius slaughter the villains he faced. Using his enchanted, diamond dagger, Bobillius could slaughter villains without looking. Overpowered, courageous, resilient, that was Bobillius.
Lasusa had six candy pink arms, deep berry purple eyes, three witch like crooked noses and a fern green skirt with amethyst swords stuck to it. Deep in her underground layer, Lasusa silently hissed at the body she massacred earlier. Lasusa slithered towards the corpse and whacked it with her flattened tail. She stared at the juniper snakes at the entrance to her layer. Lasusa hated them as they would always stick their venomous teeth out at her in a threatening way.
Pandus the fastest and most creative out of her and her thirteen sisters, was well-known for her amazing archery skills. At 1:50am, Pandus would brush through her thick, curly, black hair. It took 5 minutes and then Pandus set off to the woods to go and fight the fast wolves and lions but they were not fast enough for her. The bunnies, deer, butterflies and bright yellow and black bees crowded around her to listen while she read a book. Using her magic bow and arrow Pandus could shoot and it never missed. Determined, clever, powerful that was Pandus.
Sharkeus was a wood-thirsty monster to be feared. Shareus had razor-sharp fangs, three scarlet blood eyes, two heads of vicious bears and the claws of a deadly cheetah. Hidden in a secret underwater cave, Sharkeus glared menacingly through the crystal-clear water to find animals so he can powerfully control them. Swimming swiftly through the ocean, Sharkeous growled ferociously yet no one heard him for he was very deep down the gloomy water. Before turning his attention back to the cave, he snapped his fangs and growled fiercely.
